Corneal Topography
Corneal Topography at Nova Vision Center
Corneal topography is a diagnostic tool which creates a three-dimensional map of the surface curvature of the cornea, the front window of the eye. The cornea is responsible for most of the eye’s focusing power. Any irregularities in the shape of the cornea can lead to distortions in vision.
Your eye doctor may use a corneal topography scan for several different reasons, including a contact lens fitting, evaluation of astigmatism, evaluation of dry eye, and pre-operative assessment for LASIK surgery.
Our doctors perform corneal topography for all specialty contact lens fittings, as these lenses are custom fit to the unique shape of the eyes.
Corneal Topography Scan
Getting a corneal topography scan is non-invasive and painless. Nothing touches your eyes at any time. You will be seated in front of the corneal topographer and asked to stare at a fixed target inside the machine while pictures of your eyes are taken. The scan only takes a few seconds to complete.
